Huawei, the largest telecommunications equipment manufacturer in the world, has listed BitTorrent (BTT); a TRON portfolio project, on their latest devices through the AppGallery.
This allows over 3 billion Huawei users, across 170 countries, to access the largest and most popular decentralized network directly from their mobile devices.
There are now four BitTorrent based applications available on Huawei devices: BitTorrent, BitTorrent Pro, uTorrent, and uTorrent Pro.
TRON founder Justin Sun acquired BitTorrent Inc. in 2018 for $140 million, and integrated it with the TRON network by releasing the BTT token. Boasting over 100 million active users and over 2 billion installs, BitTorrent is the world’s largest decentralized platform in the world.
Since then, they’ve developed BitTorrent Speed, an application used to increase torrent speeds, and BitTorrent File System (BTFS), an application used to create a peer-to-peer decentralized cloud storage system based on the BitTorrent protocol.
TRON and BitTorrent Asia, an independent TRON community team in Singapore, is spearheading the creation of a new protocol to bridge apps in the Huawei ecosystem to TRON network through BTT and leverage the potential of decentralized features such as BTFS
“This is another huge milestone for TRON and BitTorrent to be listed by one of the largest Android manufacturers in the world,” says Justin Sun, Founder of TRON and CEO of BitTorrent. “We are excited to see the blossoming universe of distributed networks grow via Huawei devices and technology.”
Huawei recently surpassed Apple to become the 2nd largest cellphone manufacturer in the world, now surpassed only by Samsung which TRON has also partnered with.
