Earlier this month, Fidelity introduced a new Ethereum Index Fund for accredited investors, after raising approximately $5 million since Sept. 26.
The company first launched its cryptocurrency-focused institutional trading and custody platform, Fidelity Digital Assets, in 2018.
Currently, Fidelity offers two crypto ETF’s dedicated to both digital payments and to the metaverse.
The news was first announced via a memo sent out by the investment firm and has been confirmed by a Fidelity spokesperson.
“As the marketplace for digital assets grows, Fidelity recognizes the need for a diverse set of products and solutions that help customers gain exposure in a manner that aligns with their distinct financial objectives and risk tolerance, said a Fidelity spokesperson.
“We have continued to see client demand for exposure to digital assets beyond bitcoin.”
The new Ethereum fund is the second launched by Fidelity Digital Assets’ digital asset management business, following the 2020 launch of the Wise Origin Bitcoin Index Fund I.
